Since 1953, we’ve enjoyed a special place in hearts and homes across the nation and beyond. We’ve been the creators of long-lasting comfort for our customers for as long as we’ve been making lounge furniture. It’s something we’ve done for over 70 years and our master craftsmen who remain today have over 2 decades of passion and experience. History
1953
Grafton Art Furnishers & Everest Upholsterers merge. Grafton Everest is born.
1963
Outgrew premises at Sydney Road, Durban after tremendous growth.
1986
The Grafton Everest Factory was built in Canelands on the North Coast of Durban – commenced production on the 15 January 1986.
2013
Grafton Everest celebrates 60 years of furniture and a 800-strong workforce.
2014
Grafton Everest launches a range of motion furniture; iMove is a new concept to the South African furniture industry.

OUR SPRINGS
Over the years, Grafton Everest has prided itself on the utilisation of an advanced and incredibly strong zigzag shaped spring system that is used for all our lounge suites.
All springs that Grafton Everest use for the seats are zigzag in design and double tempered. This means that the springs undergo a baking process in an oven at over 600 degrees celsius, to strengthen the molecular structure of every spring. This also ensures that each spring retains its zigzag shape and structure through the life of the lounge suite. The tempering process is repeated twice for ultimate durability, thereby increasing the support and structure of every Grafton Everest Lounge suite.
Besides being double tempered, the zigzag springs have 3 silent tie wires running across and clipped to each spring. This allows for the whole spring unit to be brought into one complete working system when attached to the solid wooden frame. The spring system used in all our seats is set to handle the pressures and usability, for industry leading longevity and comfort.
